분위기를 조성하다

ex) The dim lighting, a cozy cough, snacks, candlelight set the mood for a romantic dinner.

놀라운 사실, 깨달음 / 아침에 마시는 음료

ex) Watching the documentary was a real eye-opener. It completely changed my perspective.

ex) I need an eye-opener before I start work.

 

[peculiar]

이상한, 독특한

ex) Wearing outdoors shoes indoors was peculiar to me.

 

[polar oppostie]

정반대, 완전히 다른 것

ex) My freind and I are polar opposites. She always wants to set the mood whereas I couldn't be bothered to.

 

[be out of one's depth]

능력 밖이다, 감당할 수 없다

= beyond one's abilities, in over one's head

ex) I think she's out of her depth in managing such a big project.

 

[It's just a phase]

그냥 한 때일 뿐이야.

ex) She's just going through a phase. She'll outgorw it.

 

[mind-blowing mind-boggling]

놀랍고 대단함 (positive)

이해하기 어려움 (negative)

ex) The view form the top of the mountain was mind-blowing.

ex) The complexity of the new tax law is mind-boggling.

 

[like cameleon]

= easy to adapt

ex) I'm like cameleon. I can adapt easily.

 

[greasy]

기름진 / 교활하거나 믿기 어려운

ex) This pizza is too greasy for me. And, my hands are greasy after eating it.

ex) He's a greasy salesman.

 

[suit my palate]

입맛, 취향이 맞다

= be to my taste

ex) This wine really suits my palate. It is to my killing.

 

[social butterfly]

= outgoing, extrovert

 

[forgetful]

잘 잊어버리는

ex) I'm a bit forgetful these days. I'm a scatter-brained.

 

[ball game]

상황, 문제, 사안

ex) Visiting somewhere and living there is a whole different ball game.

 

[hold on to]

간직하다

ex) People take selfies because they want to capture what they have done in photos and hold on to the memory.
